Hydraulic Internal Vibrators for Big Dams

VH-15 SERIE.

Minimum specifications that the machines must fulfil to install VH-15 Vibrators


The installation of one VH-15 vibrators set in the chosen machine requires a specific study for each case, depending on the needs.

The following comments refer to the vibrators installation in retroexcavators (1 & 3), where a variable flow pump is available. This pump simplifies the hydraulic circuit to be installed, as the same pump is capable of operating the vibrators as well, with no extra pump needed to be incorporated in the installation.

For other machines such as bulldozers (2), it is necessary to incorporate an extra and independent circuit with its pump, tank, radiator... as these machines are generally equipped with rotary pumps.

Thus, any machine on which a group of VH-15 vibrators are to be set up, must fulfil at least the following requirements:

  • Power 7.5 kW / vibrator
  • Hydraulic circuit flow: 16 l / min.vibrator
  • Pressure for Vibrator Circuit: 180 kg / cm2
  • Cooling enough for: 3,5 kW / vibrator
  • Maximum pressure at discharge line: 3 bar
  • Variable flow pump.
  • Free distribution arm.


Apart from the indicated power for the vibrators operation, the machine must offer the necessary power for moving the arm and the rocker. In case the pressure of the pump in this machine is higher a reducing valve will be installed.

If the retroexcavator pump pressure is higher than the requested for the VH-15 vibrators right working, a reducing valve is installed, for the pressure not to exceed the 180 kg/cm2..

The cooling is also an important point when choosing the right machine. Under the worst conditions, half of requested power for each vibrator is lost in the heat generation.

It is also very interesting to have a machine equipped with a hydraulic hammer pre-installation. The cooling capacity is then generally increased by the machine manufacturers. Moreover, this element simplifies the installation.
